Keelung Detention Center Holds Restorative Justice Seminar to Strengthen Drunk Driving Prevention Awareness

To enhance inmates’ legal awareness and promote the concept of restorative justice, the Keelung Detention Center held a “Restorative Justice Seminar” on the afternoon of March 26, 2026. Mr. Lin Shun-Chang, Chief Probation Officer of the Keelung District Prosecutors Office, was specially invited to deliver the lecture. The seminar incorporated drunk driving prevention topics in an effort to reduce recidivism risks and promote public safety through education and guidance.

The seminar centered on the principles of restorative justice, emphasizing the impact of criminal conduct on victims, families, and society. Through case studies and practical examples, inmates were guided to better understand the consequences of their actions. Chief Probation Officer Lin Shun-Chang also provided an in-depth explanation of the legal liabilities associated with drunk driving and discussed actual cases, reminding inmates not to take chances and risk causing irreversible tragedies.

Participants remained attentive throughout the event, and participation was enthusiastic. A total of 24 staff members and 36 inmates attended the seminar. Through the lecturer’s vivid presentation and practical experience sharing, inmates gained a deeper understanding of restorative justice and drunk driving prevention.

The Keelung Detention Center stated that it will continue integrating various professional resources to organize diversified rehabilitation and educational programs in the future. The Center aims to strengthen inmates’ legal education and self-reflection capabilities, assist them in successfully reintegrating into society, and further achieve the goal of preventing recidivism.
